The following are some of current events in Irish Handball.

Irish Players did well in the Waterford Crystal World Championships in Chicago winning 10 World Championships, 7 Juvenile and 3 Adult.
Men's Open Singles : Tony Healy of Cork reached the semi-final and lost 21-17, 21-15 to David Chapman USA. Paul Brady of Cavan also reached the open semi-final and was pipped 19-21, 21-15, 11-8 by John Bike USA.

Women's Open Singles player Fiona McKenna of Antrim was beaten 21-5, 21-16 by eventual winner Priscilla Shumate USA in the quarter final.

Men's Open Doubles Ducksie Walsh of Kilkenny and Kenneth Kane of Carlow were beater 21-17, 21-11 by Walter O'Connor and Tom Sheridan of Meath in the quarter final. Tom and Walter lost 21-13, 1-21, 11-6 to Bike and Lewis USA in the semi-final

Women's Open Doubles Suzanne Garland and Elizabeth Campbell of Antrim were beaten by an Irish/American combination in the quarter final.

19 & Under Boy's Michael Gregan of Wicklow was beaten 21-19, 21-8 by Bill Mehilos USA in the semi-final but Dessie Keegan of Mayo reversed the trend, beating Mehilos 11-8 in a great final

19 & Under Girl's Fiona Healy of Kildarelost 21-9, 21-7 to Megan Mehilos USA in the semi-final.

17 & Under Boy's Charly Shanks of Armagh lost 11-6 to Joseph McCann of Mayo in the semi-final. Joseph was beaten in the final by Noel McHugh of Galway.

17 & Under Girls Lydia Doolan of Roscommon was magic, easily beating allcomers She beat Courtney Peixoto USA 21-1, 21-6 in the final.

15 & Under Boy's Damien Martin of Roscommon was beaten in the final by Sean Lenning USA (Watch out for this player in the future)

15 & Under Girls Patricia Doyle of Wicklow beat Maria Daly of Kerry in a brilliant match, ending in a tie breaker (11-7) in the final.

Robert McCarthy of Westmeath won the 13 and Under Singles World championship in both 4 wall and 1 wall, beating Christopher Doyle of Wicklow in both finals.

Ian Griffin of Dublin beat Carlos Zamora in the Men's (C) Singles Final

Richard Willoughby of Wicklow and Gerry O'Neill of Antrim beat Mexico in the Men's (C) Doubles Final

Stephen Palmer of Cork beat Lane Feingold USA in the Men's (B) Singles Final.
