About Myself And My Achievements To Date

Born in 1950, I was apprenticed as an Electrical Apprentice to the ESB. After I completed my apprenticeship, I took up my current job in Guinness Kilkenny. I am married with four grown children.

I started playing Handball in 1964 in Urlingford, Co. Kilkenny with limited success except for the enjoyment which I derived from playing the game. Since joining O’Loughlins in 1982 I have been lucky enough to win numerous County Championship medals and was on the teams which won Club Championship All Ireland Medals in Novice 40 x 20 1984, Junior 40 x 20 1988, Novice 60 x 30 1996 and Junior 40 x 20 in 1996 with a great bunch of lads.

The Jewel in my Crown was winning the 40 x 20 Silver Masters (B) Doubles All Ireland Doubles Championship with Pat Gardiner 1n 1998 and we won out the corresponding Leinster Championship in 60 x 30 in 1999 but failed to Tyrone in the All Ireland Semi-Final.

In 1974 I was elected County Handball Secretary, a position which I held for 20 years before moving on to become Leinster Chairman for two years. In 1997 I was elected President of the Irish Handball Council which was a three-year term of office and am currently serving as ex President.

I played in the World Championships in Phoenix 1991, Clare, Ireland in 1994 and Winnipeg in 1997. I intend to travel to Chicago for the World’s in October 2000.
