Electrical Problem

Received on 23 November 2001, Posted on 23 November 2001 - I have a Vire 7 which was running fine out of water. Now that the boat is in the water the regulator has started to latch in, meaning the battery drives the engine continually until flat. I have had previous problems with wires to the switch burning out, but I am not sure why and I am having trouble working out how the charging and starting circuit work. I have had the regulator and magneto checked; they said they were fine but I still have same latching problem. Any tips or pointers would be welcome, before I take a hammer to it.

Another idea - is there a way of mounting an alternator to the body? Then I could use the starter/dynamo just for starting and use the alternator for charging.
