When we started Q+A we had no idea what to expect. There has never been an alternative night on the gay scene in Ireland. Other cities have successful gay indie clubs, such as popstars in London - just where are all the indie boys in Dublin hiding? Our first night we had close to 200 people in the door - not bad for a first night - especially on a Tuesday. The atmosphere was electric - i've never seen a crowd on scene with so much energy. One of the highlights of the night was Rentecca - Q+A's alternative drag queen - she brought the house down with two numbers performed on the same stage used by acts such as Sonic Youth, U2 and err the Coors. |
